PFAS continue to drive new water quality regulations across the globe. To help environmental professionals, drinking water utility leaders and policymakers stay informed, we’ve created a visual comparison of current PFAS drinking water standards and guidelines from the U.S. EPA and leading international authorities.

There remains inconsistency in the global drinking water regulations for PFAS, including individual values for PFOA and PFOS and how mixtures of PFAS are regulated.  Although regulatory values are trending downward, not all agencies that have recently reviewed the available human health data set limits as stringent as the U.S. due to different science interpretations and different policy choices.

This new Water Advisory infographic compares limits for PFOA, PFOS, and total PFAS across key jurisdictions including the United States, Australia, Canada, the European Union, Denmark, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Sweden—all updated as of June 2025.
